Conference Venue

Most of the conference will take place at the SOWI – Faculty of Social Sciences and Economics – of the University of Innsbruck.

SOWI

Every year, the University of Innsbruck offers around 600 events in numerous rooms, all of which are equipped with state-of-the-art event technology. The centerpieces are the historic rooms in the main building, the Claudiana and the Faculty of Theology, as well as the rooms of the SOWI.

The SOWI was opened in 1999 and impresses with its contemporary architecture. The idea of the architects Dieter Henke and Martha Schreieck was an open building that enables optimal exchange between the institutes. Spacious foyers serve as meeting areas and lounges. Transparency in the building provides a wonderful view of the city, the park and the Alps.

The SOWI is just a short walk from the historic old town, the Imperial Palace, the Tyrolean State Theatre and the Golden Roof. The district is lively and modern with plenty of options for going out and dining. Many restaurants and bars have settled in this area, which makes it ideal for a pre-theatre meal or a post-show drink – or simply because you fancy a night out. From an Italian wine bar and a traditional Tyrolean restaurant to Thai cuisine, the restaurants and bars near the SOWI are sure to hit the spot.
